Central Georgia EMC On April 10, 1937, a petition for chartering The Central Georgia Electric Membership Corporation was filed, and on June 11, 1937, the organization officially came into being. However, those funds helped Planters EMC keep the lid on rates, reduced the amount needed to borrow from outside lenders to build, maintain, and expand a reliable electric distribution system and covered emergency expenses. The year 1991 may seem like a long time ago. Amounts less than $300 appear directly as a credit on the October electric bill statement from Planters EMC.
